MOOSCOLLECTION x KWEKU OKOKROKO

This gallery is a collaborative project between Mooscollection and Kweku Okokroko. It serves to orchestrate a juxtaposition of the cultural elements that are found in the paintings of Kweku Okokroko, to the artefacts that are in Mooscollection.

Kweku Okokroko (1999) is a Ghanaian painter and writer whose work is centered around the culture, identity, and history of the various ethincs goups that make up the modern day Ghana and its environs. He currently studies at the University of Fine Arts Vienna in Austria.

His work incorprates with an imagination, the cultural elements of music, dance, food clothing, oral and written literature, norms, traditions, symbols and emblems of social administration, economics, power ,its politics and aesthetics, virtue, philosophies and moralities of the inter-cultural landscape which lies in Ghana and extends beyond its borders.

An understanding of these transnational cultural elements is a revelation towards thebroader scope of his artistic practice.

My work is a document and an archive of a cultural history. And a history of that history.
